St. George's Supper
Every Monday the Calvary St. Georges Episcopal Church in Bridgeport serves a free meal to those in need.  Each week area churches sponsor the dinner service. Our rotation runs the 3rd Monday every other month. We prepare the food in the MCC kitchen, deliver it, and then serve it at the St. Georges church hall. The entire meal is provided by donations we receive from our church congregation. Our standard menu consists of chili, rice, vegetables, salad, fruit cocktail, desserts, and beverages. We typically serve 50-75 meals and the numbers are growing!

How you can help…

Shoppers - tags with needed food and supply items are on a poster in Wilton Hall. Purchase item(s) and bring to the church kitchen. No time to shop? Monetary donations are accepted and we’ll shop for you!

Prep people - prepare the chili, rice, vegetables, and salad. It takes approximately 2 hours with a helper or two. Instructions and easy chili recipe are provided.

Servers - meet at church at 3:45 to carpool or meet at the St. Georges church at 4:30. Dinner is served at 5:00. With cleanup, we are typically done by 6:15 p.m.  All ages are welcome. It’s also a great way for the youth to get service hours while sharing in the experience of giving and helping those in need.

Please look for the sign-up poster in Wilton Hall which goes up a few weeks before the dinner date.  Thanks to all those who help with this community effort. We couldn’t do it without you!
