| In 2010, a group of ten adult MCC'ers were joined by four friends to participate in Simply Smile's July food distribution (dispensa, in Spanish). Over the course of a week, we bagged and distributed a month's worth of food to over 2,000 malnourished people in the mountainous Candelaria region of southern Oaxaca. |

Here we are rearranging the load on the truck, after a pitstop. Lifting large bags of product was hard on the body, but did wonders for our hearts and sense of connection with these gentle and kind people. |
| This is an arial view of the line. Many who waited walked hours through the dark jungle to get to the dispensa. The people there were patient and gracious. Many spoke Zapotec, and we learned a few words from our new friends. |

A dispensa distributes enough beans, rice, oil, sugar and salt for a month. Simply Smile's long term goal is to help the Zapotec people become coffee farmers again, by creating a fair trade coffee brand that will help them earn a living wage. |
